Spring Break 2014

I'm super excited that I'm going to Seattle for Spring Break this year!!

Literally I'm over the moon. I love it there not just because my favorite people (Peg and Ben) live there but it is just an awesome city with so many amazing things to do and see.

I've visited many times now but my last real visit that was more than a day between flights was about four Spring Breaks ago so I'm super excited to spend some time there.

Quick story. When I first started to visit my Nana and I would fly together, I would stay a week and my Papa would fly out and finish up Nana's visit. Well we flew threw Chicago, my Nana who HATES McDonalds was starving and it was the only thing open. Not only have I ever seen my little Nana eat something and ALL of it so fast but she to this day talks about how good that nasty burger was. I will definitely be missing my travel buddy.

 Me circa 2009.

I think that this was from my last trip there at Pike's place.

I cannot wait and am counting down the days already!!

catch up

This past week was super random and so unorganized. We finally got some snow which resulted in two snow days, one which allowed me to go to no classes and the other to sleep right through my 8 am. It was nice to say the least.

I've been pretty busy with Sigma Kappa and classes are finally starting to actually get into real material.

I'm currently loving my Naked palette that I got for Christmas, I got Naked 3 which was more rose undertones but I exchanged it for 2 because the golds and browns went better with my complexion.

Meet Danielle (left). We will be roommates for next year one the sorority building (Stubbs) is renovated. So exciting and love her already! A bunch of us hung out last night and watched Brideswars with snacks of course.

The temperatures here have been insane. It is not okay to walk to class when it is below 10 degrees. By the time that I actually make it to my building I can't feel anything. Officially longing for Spring.

Because of my insomnia I have been craving caffeine big time but my Aunt Peg brought to my attention that the DC but be causing the insomnia. My struggle is real, not function or not sleep?

My new stickers! Love them! Don't worry Dad, I got a case for my Mac!

Hope everyone has a great WARM weekend!!

Oh how I love a good snow day..

Longwood cancelled all classes today starting at 2 o'lcock, my first class happened to start at 2. Oh how luck I am. It was actually pretty comical that shut campus down before one snowflake had even hit the ground but I'm not complaining.

This picture was taking around 3 o'clock and we have gotten a decent amount since then. School isn't opening until 10 tomorrow but I'm holding out that it could possibly be cancelled all together. There is nothing like spending the day watching the snow fall with some hot chocolate catching up on some homework.

I hope that everyone had as good of a snow day as I did!

sororities & snow days

I've been at school for almost two weeks now and I'm already burnt out. I feel like I'm a candle burning at both ends right now. I'm not sleeping good and I have been having really bad night sweats/terrors. On a happier note I'm still loving Sigma Kappa and everything that it has offered so far. I think that it has finally sunk in and started to become a reality that I am a part of this organization.

I am super blessed with my class schedule this semester. No Tuesday Thursday's besides one lab only on Tuesday and I'm done by 12 on MWF. Super happy with that. My classes have not been stressful considering last week was syllabus week I guess I will see what reality looks like tomorrow.

Famville is looking to get 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow, 60 degrees here today and 20 tomorrow..crazy. We all know I love me a snow day!

My current Netflix addiction is SVU until my tried and true Greys Anatomy returns this month.

It is still weird to be back to school, winter break went by so fast. I feel like I forgot how to study.

Oh how I have missed Cookout. So good and oh so cheap.

That is really all that has been going on lately, nothing too interesting but I figured I would give y'all a little update!

Wear your pajamas inside out tonight and hope for that snow day!!

Sigma Kappa!

Today was by far one of the best days that I have had in my life.

I received a bid from literally the best sorority out there. I'm over the moon. I'm excited, beyond honored, and literally so many other things at the exact same time.

I know that it is going to take a few days to digest and really take in this past weekend. I cannot wait to get to know my new member class along with all of the sisters even more.

I'm so grateful to have this opportunity and cannot wait to see what it brings in the future.

I know I will have a lot more to say/ "reflect" on later but I'm just so happy I figured that I would just share pictures for now!

My new member class and Moms!

Lauren and I. Love this girl so so much!

Peyton (A SK alum and fellow Saxon employee) and I . Words cannot describe how thankful I am for her!

After getting my bid and hangout out our doors were decorated for us! Super cute and the girls were so sweet. I already feel at home!

It has been the longest weekend ever and it feels so surreal. So ready for some sleep!

Recruitment Day 3: Ritual

I cannot believe that this weekend and experience is coming to an end. To sum it up I guess I would say that it was one of the best experiences I have had at Longwood so far but I never care to go through it again. It was one of the most tiring processes ever, the days were long and it was hard to keep it together at times but I have met so many amazing people that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to get to know otherwise and I'm grateful for all of them.

Today being the last day we were called back for our last parties. I'm not going to share any names of sororities because I want it to be a surprise. Anyways, I went to them this morning and went to pref afterwards. We don't have revel until this afternoon around 4:30. That is when we get our bids and we find out what sorority our RCs are affiliated with.

After getting our bids Longwood has the tradition of "walk". Basically all of the sororities dress up in their colors and are completely decked out. They are unaware of who has accepted their bids so it is a complete surprise which is what makes it so fun. You wear jeans and a white shirt so you can be "shirted" with your new letters. The call your name and sorority over a microphone and run to your new home. They have actually stopped shirting because of past "clothes lining" incidents but it is still an amazing experience.

Watch this video at 2:35 and you will understand what I'm talking about. Hilarious.

I'm pretty overwhelmed with how fabulous this weekend has been along with the people that I have met along the way.

I'm super excited for tonight and cannot wait to find out where my home will be!

Recruitment Day 2: Philantropy

I know that not everyone might be interested in this event in my life but it is something that I do want to remember forever so this is my place to store these memories!

I think that yesterday was the longest day I've ever endured. It was so great at the same time though. I know it was a long day for everyone involved in recruitment no matter what side you were so but we all made it.

We didn't finish up until around 11 o'clock. After going to all of the parties, one for each sorority with a break and dinner in between we went to pref afterwards. Basically it was choosing the bottom three that you didn't necessarily feel were you, you put those in numerical order, number one being your favorite out of those and number three being your last choice.

It was really the start to what I think will be a great experience that I will remember forever, even though my group of girls has only known each other for a day we are already starting to mesh. I guess when you spend thirteen hours with the same people it is bound to happen!

Each group has around ten girls with one recruitment counselor who has generously de-affiliated with her sorority to guide us through the process. Lets just say that I got pretty lucky with my RCs, technically I only have one (Amanda) but we have a "sister" group as well.

Amanda and Lindsey found out about my blog and insisted on their picture gracing it's pages.

Day 2: Philanthropies

Today I really learned what I liked and could see myself in along with what sororities just weren't me.  It was much less stressful than yesterday, I guess I somewhat knew what to expect and that set me at ease. I was invited back to five out of the six possible and was pretty happy with my options.

After going to all five parties and learning about the philanthropies that they hold we were able to go pref once again. Since there were six possibly choices, three were a yes and three were a no.

Tomorrow morning we head back to receive our schedule to go to ritual day. After going to those we then head back and receive our bids later in the day!!

I'm so excited and overwhelmed/exhausted at the same time.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

Recruitment: Day 1- Values

Sorority recruitment starts today and I don't think I can possibly explain how over the top excited I am. I have waited for this day for so so long. I wanted to rush at ECU, thank the god above I didn't and you have to have 12 Longwood credit hours before they allow it. My day has finally come!

Today I will go to a "party" (more like a meet and greet) for all 9 sororities on campus, each party will be 30 minutes so it will be a long day. The day starts around 10 but doesn't finish until around 11 tonight. At the end I will go and preference the sororities.

I'll explain more about the rest of the process on a day to day basis, explaining it as I go.

We got these adorable t-shirts last night to wear today with our jeans. How cute are they?!

Wish me luck!

All Things Come To An End

Christmas break is officially over and I'm back in good old Farmville. We packed up the car this afternoon and headed back to school. Embarrassingly and in a hilarious way I realized that I left all of my clothes at home once we pulled into the parking lot of my dorm. Caleb is currently in route with all of my wardrobe as I speak. Thank you thank you thank you for that!

Classes don't technically start until Tuesday but I have returned four days early to go through sorority recruitment! So so excited for the process in general and finding my home as the outcome! I'm going to keep you all update on the day to day process starting tomorrow morning.

Here are the last on my Christmas break Instagrams.

The invite from Anthony and Jo's adorable gender reveal party. Loved the aqua and red!

The fabulous baked brie that Townley made last week. I feel like I'm currently drooling on my laptop just tying about it. Yum!

I'm currently loving Essie Cashmere Bathrobe, I received it in my stocking from Christmas. It is a great slightly metallic grey.

I'm not a huge Chipotle person, I love a good mexican meal but not so much "fast food mexican" which is what I classify Chipotle and Qudobas as. Not sure why but I got a serious craving for a good burrito bowl the other day, Miss A and I enjoyed every last bite.

There was a low of 8 degrees in Richmond last week...crazy stuff. I spent the majority of my day sitting by the fire in my fleece lined leggings that I got for Christmas as well.

With one of these.

And with these one. Loving my new slippers!

I'm officially all unpacked and resting up for the evening! Can't wait for recruitment to officially start tomorrow morning!

And it's a..

 GIRL!!

Caleb's brother and sister in law found out that they are expecting a little girl in May!

Us girls have now officially outnumbered all of those Marchetti boys. We all went to Anthony and Joanna's baby reveal party this past weekend to find out the gender!

It was so adorable, something that we all just expect from Jo now. Not a detail was left undone from food tag, banners, to ultrasound pics.

Leave a note for Baby Girl Marchetti

Everyone gathered around 11 o'clock for a little Sunday brunch, the food was fantastic. Just think bacon dip, lots and lots of fruit, croissant sausage muffins, mini quiche(s), pear tarts, hash brown casserole, to homemade sweet potato ham biscuits. We ate good to say the least.

Aunt Margaret's delicious pear tart

After eating Anthony and Joanna ( as clueless as the rest of us) cut the cute little cake that they had made to let all us know what will be arriving in May!

I think we had many people that were super excited that there will be a new little girl running around.

I would just like to make a little PSA...I've said that this little bundle was going to be a girl from the very first day!

We cannot wait to meet you baby Marchetti!
