Initiation 2015

One of my sisters posted this on Facebook and I feel as if it is such a good way to end such a wonderful weekend. There isn't much to be said as I think it says just enough.

Sigma Kappa is:
Sigma Kappa is forgiving a sister even when she doesn't say sorry.
Sigma Kappa is holding a sister while she cries, whether tears of joy or of sorrow.
Sigma Kappa is having the strength to change traditions that do not comply with our values. Because respect is truly given through actions and words regardless of new member class.
Sigma Kappa is not letting your friendships get in the way of being a good officer, but remembering to never let a position get in the way of a friendship. Learning to work with a group who means more to you than you can explain sometimes makes it harder to find solutions, but never impossible.
Sigma Kappa is looking up to older sisters as your role models and looking at younger sisters realizing they have transformed into leaders.
Sigma Kappa is getting ritual songs stuck in your head at random times and not being able to shake those few lines you keep repeating. And you know that that secret is so sacred a bond.
Sigma Kappa is remembering that our founders sacrificed for us, so we must sacrifice our time and energy for our chapter. Remembering to try everyday to represent what Sigma Kappa stands for, our founders, our ritual, our sorority, and our chapter.
Sigma Kappa is personal growth from college girl to sorority woman, service to sisters, friendship to all, and loyalty to your values.
Sigma Kappa is looking at the remaining chapter in front of you as you become as alumna and realizing that these women will forever be imprinted on your heart.
And if nothing else Sigma Kappa is a better way to stumble up the back steps and walk proudly out the front door.

This weekend started the journey for Spring '15, they're officially sisters! These 6 weeks went by so fast, it was amazing to see their journey as New Members from the other side. Delta Nu is so fortunate to have welcomed 20 amazing women into our sisterhood.

It was a BIG day for Little!! The Rockstar family is so proud of her and how much she has grown in such a short amount of time! I cannot wait to see all that you bring to the table and I'm honored to be watching by your side.

this & that

Life has been a little non stop around here lately. Between school, Sigma Kappa, shenanigans going on at home, and other random things that come up I've stayed pretty busy. It has been pretty cold around here too which does not make me happy. We all know that I am die hard summer girl, counting down the days.

My high school did an Instagram photo challenge for Valentine's Day with the hashtag of #sghslove. I miss my days there a lot, it was definitely something that I didn't appreciate until my time there was over. They say you don't know how good you have it until it is gone, so true. It is a hard experience to describe but it is something that I hold extremely close to my heart. I love and miss each and everyone of these girls. We really did become a family, and this family was by my side during some hard times!

On occasions I still receive a lovely care package in the mail, don't let the picture fool you..this is over 200 cough drops. These four bags have gotten me through the past two weeks. Guess they really want me to get enough Vitamin C.

Random family picture from a couple weekends ago. Can't wait to have everyone back together this weekend for Little to get initiated!!

Sigma Kappa has some of the best alumnae, these women literally do anything and everything to help us out and do not get credit often enough! Delta Nu sends tons of love to one of our fabulous alumnae who has unfortunately been diagnosed with cancer. Please keep Vanessa in your thoughts!

I received a little Valentine's surprise from the one and only, my amazing Dad. He knows the way to my heart...through Helen at Red Front.  What can I say, she is my girl! I mean who doesn't love a text from her telling you that your shirts are ready for pick-up?

Letters > Flowers

I headed home this past weekend to catch up on some laundry and make a Trader Joe's run. Little did I know that Lululemon was having a one day warehouse sale at their Short Pump store. I might have a slight addiction and my collection is always growing. Izzy drove down the night before and we waited in line...yes we were those crazy people in 10 degree weather. Some might think it was ridiculous but we scored some AMAZING deals and it was totally worth the bitter wait.

Thankfully we were apart of the first 10 in line, by the time that we had checked out this is what the store looked like. Actual chaos.

Farmville got it's first snow of the season last night, giving us a snow day and cancelling my night class. We currently have a delay for tomorrow so we will have to wait and see what happens with that. We are supposed to get a little more snow tomorrow night as well.

Ready for some warm weather to say the least!

A week to go until we are on a play to the west coast, hoping that the temps will be a little more mild!
The countdown begins.

Big Little

Lets all take a second to acknowledge that I AM A BIG!!!

It literally feels like yesterday that I was getting my big!! It was such a wonderful day, one that will definitely be remembered forever.

I guess to start off I just have to brag a little. My little, Amy is PERFECT. Literally she is everything that I could have ever asked for and more!! She was a nursing major and now a psychology major, sound familiar? She is obsessed with Grey's Anatomy, loves herself a good monogram, and her birthday is ONE day after mine. I see perfection in our near future!

Sigma Kappa has a "big/little" week before reveal which consists of three baskets that usually include clues of who your big is. When I say clues, they are typically lies that throw the littles off and make them think that they have someone else or are in a different family. I tried not to be too deceiving as I remember how annoying it was!

Reveal was on Saturday afternoon, all of the littles received a scrap of wrapping paper. This is the paper that their Big would be wrapped in. They were let onto the hall and they had to find their wrapping paper. Being the interesting character that we all know I am, I hid in the trash room.

Note: These pictures are in NO specific order.

I might have stalked Amy a little bit during Big/Little week. Meaning that I made other take pictures of her when she got her baskets!

And or I took some pictures from a distance :) It was hard to not just tell her who I was!! We all know that keeping secrets is not a strong suit of mine.

Catch Up/Photo Dump

To say that most of my time has been spent in the hospital, doctor's offices, and in bed the past 10 days would not be saying enough. The flu hit me and it hit me hard. I haven't had the flu since I was in grade school but it didn't take me long to remember how awful it was.

Long story short Longwood health care is not nearly up to par. I ended up in the emergency room last Monday, which in all honesty wasn't acceptable healthcare either. I found myself on Tamiflu, drinking cough syrup from the bottle, and sleeping 14+ hours a day.

I'm currently feeling much better but I'm still waiting to get my energy back, I'm sure that will come with time.

Here is a little dump from my phone:

My girls. They get me through the tough days, literally. They listen to me bitch and tell me like it is when I need it most. They pick me up when I'm down and are there to celebrate at the highs. I cannot explain how thankful I am to have found them, I don't think I tell them enough how much they mean to me. They are more than my sisters or my best friends, they have become just like family.

Speaking of family, I love this family more than I can explain too! We are literally Rockstars, no pun intended. Everyone was in town for a function last week and it was so good to see my Mimi!! We miss her tons now they she left us for bigger and better "adult" things.

T-minus 4 days until we get to welcome our new addition to the family!! More on that later!

Someone sent this to me last week and it was oh so needed. We all have moments in life when we are a little insane and sometimes we all just need to take a moment, laugh, and really appreciate the things that we have in life.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to spend more time outside, I was hoping that would increase the amount of exercise I would be getting. Well I quickly learned that I would rather do anything but be outside when it is below 40 degrees. So I've been spending my time on the treadmill, we all need a little motivation and what is better than Ryan Reynolds?

Sickness has been going around in my family, my Mimi was also hit with the flu and pneumonia. She has been recovering for about a week now, we are just so happy to have her home. I would appreciate all happy thoughts coming her way!

I think I'm finally up to date!! Cannot wait for Big/Little Reveal: 4 Days!
