Long Time

It has been awhile.
I try and keep up on here but this time of year has just overwhelmed me with emotions and I had no interest in sharing anything with anyone.
Well we got through it and it is time to share again.

Last Saturday was the one year anniversary of my Mom's passing.
I always thought that we would do something special or spend it with my Mom's family but I didn't.
I spent it by myself and that is exactly how I wanted it. I spent it remembering the things that I loved about her and miss about her so very much and it was perfect.
While some days it feels like she has been gone for a day others it feel like it has been years.

Memorial day has also come and gone and while I wish I could say we did something fabulous we didn't, I worked while I work my American outfit. Not only did I work that Monday I have worked a total of 42 hours this week. What happened to part time?!

This is what I do on my days off even though they are few and far between.
Abuse my Netflix subscription and lounge.
Lounge and snack and boy that sounds good today.

This doesn't need an explanation.
Plastic mason jar.
Fabulous.

It is finally hot here, just how I like it.
We bought a blow up pool and a slip and slide.
No shame.

I got this lovely in the mail yesterday!
She is fabulous.
I needed a new wallet to transition from my usual card pouch from school.
I picked her up during the Nordstrom half yearly sale.

Back to Reality

Well I'm back in Richmond and no longer in vacation mode.
Unfortunately I have to work today...and many other days.
Well I'm happy to be back in familiar territory I had a great time with my Dad and will be back come August.

p.s: prepare yourself for the randomness of this post.

Blue Bell Ice cream.
best.thing.ever.
If you have never had it you don't know what you are missing. BB used to only be available in Texas but I have seen a couple vanilla gallons around our local stores lately. It is the best and creamiest ice cream you will ever have.

These doughnuts are pretty amazing too.
Top's doughnuts.
They are a must if you ever visit Houston, my Dad gets them in the morning before we all get up.
They make something called a kolache which is pretty much sausage wrapped in a doughnut that is shaped like a hot dog.
Heavenly.

Some major shopping was done on this trip. I don't think that Grandma and I took a day off.
So many cute things made their way into my closet!

Since my weather is finally here Jeep rides are a must!

This is how I spent most of my vacation.
Exactly where it should have been.
It was heavenly and the thought of actually having to do anything productive now makes me sad.

I had a beautiful day to fly home to rainy gross weather.
Upon my arrival home I realized that my luggage had been pilfered through. The running total is currently $684.40 missing.
Don't try and call United either to report all of your missing things because you won't be able to speak with anyone in America and they will tell you that they have 12 weeks to investigate.
Really people!?

 Peanut Plops.
Another one of God's great creations.
I'll share this recipe later but all you need to say is marshmallows and peanut butter combined...yumm!

It was time for a mani!
Not loving this color...Mod About You. I think it looks too neon!

And I will leave you with this.
A Woozie...a coozie for your wine!

Happy Birthday to ME!!

Lets just say I have these two fabulous people in my life named Grandma and Grandpa.
They are so generous, at many times overly generous and probably some of the most loving people I have in my life.
They are pretty fabulous and I love them to pieces.

Well my birthday present from them is pretty fabulous just like them and I cannot thank them enough!
I know, I know my birthday isn't until July but I was only here for a week!
We had to get ahead of the game.

This lovely is on it's way to my house as I type this.
It is perfect for everything.
It is the perfect color, the perfect leather (soft as butta), and the perfect size.
I'm thinking that my Longchamp is going to see some unfamiliar time in my closet.

I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Momma's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the beautiful Moms in this world!
You all deserve this day of recognition for all that you to for your nagging children like myself!
I hope that you all enjoy your day and pretend like you are a princess because we all deserve that every once in awhile.

Tomorrow marks the first Mother's Day without my Mom here.
While it will definitely be a hard day we will spend it celebrating her.
Spending the day just how she should want us to, lying by the pool.

I miss her laugh and her smile along with her crazy sense of humor.
Even though she isn't with us she keeps me smiling.

Love you Momma.

Haircuts and Happiness

I'm currently on vacation and planned on staying lap top free but I'm an over sharer along with a little OCD and can't not stay up to date on here.

Here is what I have been up to lately.

I started reading the Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin on the plane on the way to my Dad's and fell in love. It makes you look at the way you live your life in such a different perspective and gives you a drive to make some changes in your life. Definitely a good summer read!

My key chain finally came in the mail last week and I couldn't wait to get it open. One of my friends, Jordan, her aunt owns the most adorable company called B Invited and she sells theses fabulous key chains that you can get monogrammed with anything!

Find one here!

I've spent a lot of time under my "Mimi quilt" since I got home from school. It is one of my favorite things, it is made from all of the scraps from the dresses that she made for me when I was a little girl. It is definitely something that I will hold close to my heart.

I bit the bullet and finally cut my hair, I couldn't be more happy with it. As you know from my constant complaining my hair is so curly and gets difficult to manage in the summer. So the shorter the better. I.e. the shorter the less time I have to spend making it look presentable.

I picked up some new Nike's last week thanks to Caleb, while they are a drastic difference from my tried and true Asics I think that I'm going to really like them. Plus they are hot pink!

This is where I spent my afternoon. Lounging by the pool with the termometer reading mid 80's.
My.kind.of.day

Sno Shack.
Everyone needs to experience this once in their life.
It is like heaven in a cup. I get a little a Little Mermaid, which is Kiwi and Blueberry.
Ahhh.

I caved last week and pulled out the whites. I'm a sucker for white pants and think that they make anyone feel better, I mean they make you look tanner so you can't ask for much more.

I hope y'all are enjoying your week while I'm enjoying the begining of my vacation!!

See Ya Wheeler!

The day has finally come.
I'm sure y'all are just as happy as I am because you don't have to listen to me talk about it anymore.
Technically I think my brain checked out about 3 weeks ago but I actually checked out today.
I turned my key in and closed the door.
I took my last exam at 8 this morning and headed straight home.
Considering that I practically took all of my stuff home three weeks ago I didn't have a lot of moving out to do.

I'm not going to lie and I can't believe I'm saying this...
It is a little bitter sweet to go home for good until next year.
I've been so lucky to find such a great group of friends that welcomed me with open arms mid school year.
I've made some great memories and cannot wait for what next year has in store for all of us.
But that can wait until after I enjoy my beloved July and August.

Ava, Casey, Me, Colleen, and Julie
Tonight we have a little get together for Nana's birthday.
I'm working both Saturday and Sunday.
I leave Monday evening for Houston for 10 days and I'm beyond excited.
It has been too long and it is time for a trip home and possibly a puppy!!
( I know that you read this occasionally Dad)

I will miss living in this hotel.
I hope everyone else is having as good of a Friday as I!

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Happy Birthday to my dear Nana!!
Even though your candles will say 83 today we all know you are 22.
I can honestly say that you are one of my favorite people in this world and I treasure you more than anything!
You have taught me so many things in life and are definitely an example to live by.

A little wisdom from Nana:

1. Butter can make anything taste better.

2. A "Nana" isn't a normal Grandma, it takes someone special to be a Nana.

3. Everyone needs a second freezer for cookies.

4. All girls deserve to be spoiled and have a "Peewee" but it takes time to get one...this story is for another day.

5. Always tell the truth, be open and honest just like Nana.

I hope that you have the best birthday yet and I can't wait to see you tomorrow!

xoxo

May Day

I cannot believe that my May Day was one year ago today.
It was a day I will never forget that I spent with my class.
Makes me miss Saint Gertrude even more!

I've been pretty busy lately que my absence on here.
I've been working, studying for finals, along with packing up my dorm.
I came home last Friday and am going back tomorrow to take my final two exams and then I am free for the summer!

It has been a little stressful and sometimes well you just need a mani/pedi.

The new camera strap courtesy of Mimi.

To say that I am happy to be done with my Anatomy class is an understatement.
Sadly it took this one class for me to realize that the career path that I was one was not for me.

Lets just say that Loft had an amazing sale all week long and I may or may not have come home with more than this bag.

I'm ending my week with a little icing.
Judge. Me.
