My Best Friend's Wedding

My best friend got married!! 

Lauren and Mario's wedding was literally one of the most beautiful things that I have every seen and I don't think that I can do it the justice that it deserves. Lauren is one of my sorority sisters and honestly one of the main reasons I joined Sigma Kappa. This little town isn't the same since she graduated and moved on to bigger and better things. She has the biggest heart, an incredible talent of making me laugh until I cry, and is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. I was so honored to be able to stand by her side on Saturday.

She picked a good one, it doesn't get much better than Mario. He has a heart of gold just like his bride and he protects our country. I think I can speak for everyone at their wedding, we wish you both nothing but happiness in this world!

Did I forget to mention that they got married on the side of a mountain with the most gorgeous view of Charlottesville? Their venue did not disappoint and was absolutely breath taking. The weather was wonderful and so great for an October wedding.

The personal touches and the time spent on details didn't go unnoticed. I cannot wait to get the professional pictures back as I can't say I picked my camera up after we got dressed.

It was a perfect weekend in every way possible! From the wedding party, the laughs, the memories, to the ceremony! Love you both more than words, thank you for letting me be a part of your big day!

Charlottesville: Carter's Mountain

This weekend was oh so good and really our first true Fall weekend. Temperatures dipped down into the 50s and it was really the first time that I have had the chance to dig out sweaters and boots. 

Last week was pretty low key being a short one due to Fall Break being that Monday/Tuesday, I don't have Friday classes and will take a 2 day week whenever they come around. Izzy made a quick trip to Farmville after work on Friday and spent the weekend with me, oh how I miss her around here. 

We decided to make the trek to Charlottesville as they were holding the most recent J.Crew Warehouse sale. I (and my Dad) have a weakness for these sales, they don't happen too often and I've scored some killer deals at them! I finally convinced Izzy that we should go and because I really wanted an excuse to go to Carter's Mountain. 

Talk about a gorgeous Saturday which was accompanied by some major UVA football traffic. We finally made it to the sale and we left completely empty handed within three minutes of entering. One too many boxes and one too many sweaters on the floor for my liking. I think the key is to go on the first day, can't win them all!

We made our way to Carter's Mountain, one of my absolute favorite checklist items to do in October. I love apples, Granny Smiths to be exact with a side of PB or cheese. We made it up the mountain in record time for peak season and parking was a breeze compared to past experiences. It is definitely something that I highly recommend, they actually opened Bold Rock Cidery in the bottom of their barn which is an extra plus in my book.  

The donuts.  These things are dangerous and amazing, I've never had them and don't know how I hadn't heard about them before. So good with coffee in the morning!

It was a wonderful Fall filled weekend with gorgeous weather. I always forget that Charlottesville is a pretty quick drive from Farmville and let be honest it gets a little boring around here! It was a nice change of pace and fun to get out and explore!

Life Lately

 This past week was midterm week around these neck of the woods and I think everyone and their brother was stressed to the max. I made it out alive and can say that I'm thrilled that last week is behind me. This week is a short week which makes me extremely happy! Fall break starts on Thursday and it will be nice to head home for a little relaxation, it is through next Wednesday so its a nice chunk of time. I can't believe it is already time for a break, it is actually starting to feel cooler around here and like October and I have zero complaints. 

I've been missing this guy lately. I know that everyone says they have the best Dad in the world but I really do! He is my rock and the fact that he answers the phone whenever I call multiple times a day just shows what a saint he truly is. I'm sorry I don't thank you enough, I know you read this sometimes!

 

 My sweet sweet Little surprised me and charmed me last weekend! She is such a gem and I adore her with every ounce of my body! My charm was a little ruby for our July birthdays and it was such a good surprise! She keeps me on my toes and is adorable (I might be biased). 

We had our annual Alzheimer's Walk this past Thursday and as always it was a fabulous event. Sigma Kappa has five philanthropies, one being Alzheimer's Awareness. Every year we raise money and spread awareness around Longwood and Farmville. We look forward to this event so much and a lot of love goes into it! It kicks off Octoberfest and has really grown into something wonderful. The rain held off for about two hours for us to get the walk in and we couldn't have asked for anything more. A huge thanks to everyone that donated to my team, it means more than you know!

 

 This is my new motto in life.

We went to the State Fair last weekend and I would say that it was an experience. Izzy, myself, her sister, and some more of their family/friends embraced the rain and bundled up. It was actually a lot of fun and totally worth it when I consumed a funnel cake. I have decided that everyone needs to go to the fair once every five years, more than that is too much for me.

I adore these girls. Literally adore. They make my heart so full and I'm so thankful to have them. They made a rainy nasty Octoberfest weekend pretty amazing, then again they make most days pretty awesome!

This week is a pretty low key one and I'm thankful. Sigma Kappa had an open house tonight (more on that later) and now I'm just getting through tomorrow and Wednesday and I'm home bound. I'm currently still wearing shorts and t-shirts so it's about time.
