Mani Pedi's, Papa, and The Palmens

This weekend was so busy but it was the type of busy that I love.

I spent Friday night with my Aunt Peggy, we went and got Mani/Pedi's along with going to Costco. My little car full of a trip to Costco was definitely a sight, we were a little reluctant about it all fitting in my car but it was a success!

Saturday afternoon we all went out to dinner and attended a mass for my Mom afterwards.

Sunday was the anticipated day, Papa's 80th birthday!! Peggy threw the best party, as always. There was so much food, which is a normalcy as well. It is a rare occassion to have our family all in the same place for an event (we missed you Ben!)!

A little catch up

My obsession with Gossip Girl got a little ridiculous the past two weeks. Thankfully just in time for exams I finished the series.

Colleen and I went to the Zeta Pink Out baseball game this past week, sporting our pink of course!
Cannot wait to be future roomies!

It's Okay..

It is okay...

...that I eat candy like I'm never going to see it again.

...that I wear my jeans about ten times before I was them.

...that I make lists religiously and I have a slight case of OCD.

...that all of my hangers have to be the same way in my closet.

...that I'm so antsy about summer.

...that I'm usually in bed before nine o'clock.

...that I love to read....trashy novels.

...that I haven't been to the gym in two weeks.

...that I unfriended about 100 people on Facebook today that were driving me nuts.

...that I'm addicted to watching the news even though it is horrific now a days.

...that I eat icing out of the container on occasions.

...that I will only paint my toenails a shade of pink.

...that I'm terrified of disappointing my family.

...that I worry about other people's problems as much as mine.

...that I have to have my blankie and bear to sleep at night.

 ...to be me.

Chex Mix

This is nothing like Chex Mix it is much more like crack.
100% addictive.

I had never had this before my first Christmas with the Marchettis and let me tell you my life has been better ever since. While they only usually make it around the holiday I tend to sneak a bag out of the freezer and bake it.

It is basically cereal, pita chips, nuts, bagel chips, and pretzels with seasonings and worcestershire sauce mixed with melted butter. Guess I should rethink eating this not just at the holidays :)

Heavy Heart

Today marks the 6th anniversary of the Virginia Tech tragedy and is a day to honor all of those who lost their lives, were injured, and their families.

I know that I remember exactly where I was along what I was doing when the news broke and I'm sure that I am not the only one with this feeling.

While we are honoring all of those victims we are also continuing to mourn all of those effected by the Boston Marathon bombing.

While today I have a heavy heart it reminded me to call my family and tell them how much I love them along with hugging those I care about a little tighter.

Continue to keep those in your thoughts and prayers.

xoxo

Boston

I think I can speak for most of us and say that our hearts are heavy today and go out to Boston along with all of the race participants and their families.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

xoxo

Happy Happy Birthday

Happy 80th birthday Papa!
I hope today is everything you hope it would be and more!
I'm so proud to call you my Grandfather, you have taught me so many things in life.
In honor of you I'm going to share some of those words of wisdom with others.

1. There is no excuse for being late, it isn't that hard to be on time.

2. Nana is always right, even when she is wrong (which is never).

3. I'm just not good at Chemistry.

4. Education is the most important thing in your life, it is something that no one can ever take away from you.

5. The good things in life don't come easy.

I hope one day that my children have as good of a role model and Papa as I do!

Love you!

The Continental and Canal Walk

This weekend was low key and it was exactly what we needed.

My Saturday morning was spent like this with two of my favorites while others in our house spent it running the 10K. I'm content with my choice for opting out, this was just as rewarding.

I also made some homemade Chex Mix while Caleb cut some grass. It is my absolute favorite!
(more to come later)

That afternoon Caleb and I were planning on going to Maymont, little did we know that it wasn't dog friendly. This made it an automatic no for us. We decided to go downtown instead, strolling the streets near Saint John's and the Poe Museum (my favorite) along with a little Farmers Market mixed in making our way to the Canal Walk.

That night we went out to dinner at a little place on Grove called The Continental. It was our second time eating here and I think that we have decided that we won't be returning. It is nothing special and neither time have we been impressed with what we ordered.

BBQ Chicken Bacon Pizza
This morning we drove out to my Grandparents to visit with them along with my Aunt Peggy who is in town from Seattle. Little did we know her flight didn't get in until late last night and due to our early visit sadly we did not to get to see her.

Afterwards was a little grocery shopping and then we were headed back to school.

A little over twenty days left until summer, exactly two weeks of classes along with exams.

Have a good week y'all!

Cherry Trees and Colonoscopies

Well let me just start off by saying I never care to have a colonoscopy again.
I won't go into any details but it is definitely not fun.
(no I didn't buy the video Jean!)
Nor was a good day to end my week.

This morning I had to drive back down to Farmville to take a test and pick up Caleb.
We headed back to Richmond and ran some errands this afternoon.

We don't really have an plans for this weekend, the weather is supposed to be gorgeous especially for all of those participating in the Monument 10K in the morning.
Possibly a trip to Maymont tomorrow afternoon and a nice date night out.

Even though this week was a rather short one here is a little catch up!

P.S. This is a completely random post.

My poor little Colleen hurt her ankle playing soccer this week!
All is well, I just never care to go to a hospital in Farmville again.

I've been sporting my Chambray shirt everywhere since I got my hands on it.
It literally goes with everything and I suggest it to anyone for the summer!
I paired with my neon capris and Jacks today.

The Cherry trees are one of my favorite things about Spring.
They are so gorgeous and it is an assurance that Spring has arrived.

This is what got me through my all liquid clear diet.
I hadn't had these in ages but they were perfect.
I think I ate a total of about 6.
I'm.not.ashamed.

I treated myself to a little mani/pedi trip to end my week on a good note.
Bubblebath will always put you in a better mood.

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Enjoying the Little Things

I think this little taste of summer is going to get me through.
I sat outside today with my homework and sunglasses and soaked up the rays
I'm sure y'all are starting to think that I am over enthusiastic about this Spring and Summer thing but I cannot help it, it runs through my veins.

For the past few months I've been so stressed.
Stressed about things in life that I have no control over nor matter.
I've worried to the point of developing stomach aches and rashes.
The past two weeks I've taken a step back and observed myself.
I'm a people watcher, I could sit and watch people at the mall all day long.
I realized that I needed to think about myself.
Instead of worrying about the little things I had to learn to enjoy the little things.

Including those things that make me happy:

1. The temperatures today that were in the mid 80s.

2. The Happiness Project (something all of y'all should pick up)

3. Having my windows open with a breeze coming in.

4. My appointment for my colonoscopy (for reasons that will be left unmentioned) does not make me happy.

5. Fresh sheets

6. My Gossip Girl Addiction

7. Knowing that there are 24 days left until summer break.

Getting my tan here would make me even happier.

Spring has Sprung...Again

Spring has finally spring around here and it is about time.
It is April and it was time for Mother Nature to get it together.
It is supposed to be in the 70s all week and the fact that I am blogging from below makes super happy!

We spent this afternoon getting in as much sun as we possibly could and boy it felt good!

Finally Jack season

Some Longwood Frisbee

Now let me fill y'all in on this past week.

I ordered some books for the summer last week and had to break into this one.
All of y'all who know me know that Andy Cohen is my weakness.
I just love him, I mean I set my alarm to wake up to watch his show.
I'm almost done with it and I'm really hoping he writes some more.

I had a craving for some corn bread this weekend and it hit the spot.
I love to eat them for breakfast with butter...mmmm!
Lets just say that I ate them all and therefore had none to bring back to school.

Gertrude and I spent some time together this weekend.
She gets about 4 walks a day...ridiculous I know.
She knows exactly when they are supposed to be and is sure to let you know that you are running late.
We took our walk last night up the road and it was good to get some fresh air now that I don't need five layers and a sweatshirt.

I found a new hobby.
Grocery shopping.
It is my new thing and I love it.
I don't know if it is the fact that it gives me a reason to make a list or the feeling of getting up at 7 just to have the store to myself.
I've gotten over the fact that all of the middle aged Moms look at me like I'm in there territory.

I got these pretties in the mail last week.
They made me happy along with my J.Crew incident.
Long story short I made an order a few weeks ago, they sent my order to my billing and shipping address. I proceeded to call them to tell them that they shipped my order twice. They must have thought I meant they charged me twice due to them refunding all of my money.
I love shopping at J.Crew!

This past week was Hampden Sydney's Greek Week.
Craig Morgan came to preform but due to the rain the turnout was not so well.
It turned into more of a hangout session which was fine with us!
But we missed you Colleen!

3 more weeks till Summer! I think I can I think I can.

Easter and Engagements

This weekend was here and over in a flash.
We had something going on every second of every day and it was perfect.

We had everyone home, even Ben all the way from Thailand!
Literally we had nine people in the house.
All bed and couches were taken along with a mulch bed.
That is for another day.

Caleb and I came home for the weekend for Easter and for Jake and Kristen's wedding festivities.
They currently live in Florida (hard life, I know) and came into town for their celebrations.
Friday night we went to their engagement party which was perfect and so much fun.
It was at Hardywood Park Brewery which is in downtown Richmond.
There was a band and it was an open venue with a beer tasting and desserts.

The happy couple

Saturday morning was spent running some errands and getting some grocery shopping done.
That afternoon we went to Margaret's much anticipated wedding shower.
She so outdid herself, everything was perfect to the tee.
It was a Margaritaville themed party and thankfully we had the most perfect weather to celebrate with some of our favorite people.

Margaret's adorable invites

By Saturday night I was starting to get warn out.
Y'all have to remember I'm an only child, alone time is my thing.
After the shower we went home and relaxed, it was exactly what I needed.
Kristen's family was in town and came over for a fire pit and dinner.
I'm proud to say that I was in bed by 9:30.

Sunday morning we woke up to some not so lucky weather for Easter.
The rain was not going to stop me from wearing my Jacks and dress, it still happened.
While I have barely any pictures for you except for some of Kristen's adorable niece it was just as busy as the others and a great way to finish off the weekend.

Baby Bailey

Sorry for the overload of pictures and post but I didn't want to leave any moment out.
It was a great weekend with good food and even better people.

Hope you all had a happy Easter!

P.S. I'm loving the 70 degree temps outside of my window today.
