Miss Longwood, Relay, RVA

Let's just start off by saying that there are less than 30 days until summer and I'm getting antsy. Even though summer weather has not arrived I've got the bug for vacation. It is taking everything I have to not mentally check out, I keep reminding myself to keep going. 

Relay for Life was this past weekend (sadly I missed it), all week CPC raised money that went to the sorority that raised the most. So proud to be a part of such a great organization at Longwood.

Kappa Delta put on the annual Miss Longwood pageant which women from all different organizations participate in, always it was great. Such a fun night and it supports such a great cause. From Bridesmaids imitations to Pharell it was very entertaining.

Our spirit jerseys finally came in after we ordered them in January! Let me say patience isn't something that I find in myself too often but it was totally worth the wait. They are super cute and I've lived in mine for the past 4 days.

Friday morning I woke up and was sick, not quite sure if it was a summer cold/fever or just a respiratory issue. I think that I was sick and homesick which called for a weekend in Richmond. It consisted of lying in bed and snuggles with this girl. Sorry for the cheesy selfie, Miss A is just so cute and I'm sure you can tell she just loves when I make her take pictures.

I also picked up some new tennies this weekend. My Asics weren't cutting it anymore, the arch had considerably gone down since I got them and I fond that at the end of the day my legs were killing me. I'm giving Nike another chance after my little spout of tendonitis this summer. We will see how it goes!

CPC Women's Week Photo Shoot

A couple weeks ago I was approached about participating in a photo shoot with other Panhellenic women representing all our CPC sororities on campus. First off, I was honored to be one of two to represent Sigma Kappa and secondly I was so happy to be experiencing it with my G. 

We were asked to wear minimal makeup and not necessarily do our hair (i.e. no products or styling) to show campus what real women look like. CPC is putting on a Women's Week promoting confidence and acceptance of ones self, it will be really similar to the Dove commercials. 

It was a great afternoon with a fabulous group of women that I was so humbled to be a part of. Mary and I had a great time and a big thanks goes out to CPC for coordinating such a good event.

Where are you Spring?

Plain and simple...March needs to get on out of here. March is always such a tease, it sounds so Spring but it really is still winter at least here. I'm so sick of my socks, shoes, and layers. So ready to break out my chinos and Rainbows but I'm wondering if the day will ever get it. 

This is what I walked to class in this morning, it is also supposed to be in the high 70s this weekend. Welcome to Virginia!

Lip Sync, Penny Wars, & Violet Ball

The week was over in a blink of an eye. I was super busy with school and Sigma Kappa but it was definitely a good week. Spring finally arrived (calendar wise) for about two days but there is a chance of snow Tuesday. I can't believe I have ONE month left of sophomore year of college. I'm feeling so old, even though I'm not. Anyways let me get y'all caught up. 

The pictures from CPC's Women's Week shoot that my G and I participated in are finally ready. I can't wait to see the rest once they are spread around campus. It was such a great experience with an awesome group of women.

We sold cupcakes this week as a fundraiser for Relay for Life this upcoming weekend. It was a cold and rainy day but cupcakes can make everything better in my opinion. Thank you to all who bought one!

Lip Sync was this week as well! All of the sororities and fraternities participate each semester with a dance routine that coordinates with their chosen theme.  Everyone did fabulous and I am so proud of my pledge class...I held the banner proud!

Violet Ball was this weekend, which is out date party for the semester. It was so much fun and was definitely a night that will not be forgotten.

 I woke up this morning to a picture of America "reading the newspaper". I'm missing my girl so so much these days. Can't wait to get home for some snuggles. 

War of the Roses was put on by a fraternity on campus to raise money for Push America. The sorority that raised the most money in coins won the event. Other sororities could place bills in your jar and it counter acted your coins. Lets just say that it got really competitive really fast. Congrats to Sigma Sigma Sigma for winning!!

Spring arrived this week but isn't staying for long! It was so so nice to wear shorts and sandals but I'm not looking forward to the snow that is currently in the forecast. March is such a tease. I need the sunshine...soon.

And last but not least. I got some standards love tonight at Chapter. I am so humbled and honored, I love Sigma Kappa with my entire heart and the chapter has given me so much in these short two months. I cannot wait for next year and what is to come.

Playing Catch-Up

It is only Monday and this week has already been a slight struggle. We woke up this morning to some ice and classes are delayed for tomorrow. I have three tests this week so a little catch up is all that I have.

Daylight savings time kicked my butt this year. Not only was it Spring ahead but I was just coming back from Seattle. Lets just say that I was up until around 3 o'clock for a couple days in a row. No worries, I'm back to normal now!

I LOVE my family so much. They are the best ever and I couldn't ask for more...that sounds like a country song.

G, Big, Me

My G (Mary) and I were honored to participate in CPC's Women's Week photoshoot this past weekend. It was so much fun to spend some time with other Greek women and promote self confidence. More on this later!

I'm officially not allowed to buy anymore letters until next year. I love them all so much that I can never decide which ones I want to wear on #wearwednesday.

Miss America is getting spoiled by the Marchettis as normal. Caleb sent me this last week while he was home on Spring Break. He said no one was home and the blanket did not get there by itself...Paul :)

Yes I did say that we are currently in the middle of an ice storm but last week it was in the 80s and I did my homework outside. It was so so nice to get some vitamin D. March is always such a tease weather wise.

I am taking advantage though to get a little bit more wear out of some of my Spring Break winter outlet find. Currently loving my new Eddie Bauer vest.

I plan on enjoying my snow day tomorrow snuggled up in the library!

Seattle: Part 2

I think that most people that know me now know about my serious addiction to cupcakes. Long story short there is this adorable cupcake shop in my Aunt's neighborhood and they make the best. I'm a little ashamed but proud at the same time that I ate 17 cupcakes over 7 days..and enjoyed everyone of them. I have to admit that I am not attracted to sugar currently.

My new favorite..Holly Hobbie Dance Party

Seeing the famous "gum wall" at Pike's Place was probably one of my favorite things as well. It was rather disgusting but so cool at the same time. It is pretty much a landmark in Seattle, the city has scrapped the wall many times but people keep it up.

These rain boots came in so handy, even though I looked like I had red fire hydrants on my feet I wore them often. It definitely rained its fair share during my visit but it gave us an excuse to be lazy which I am all about on vacation.

We went to the Seattle Art Museum on a cold dreary day. I'm not going to lie a lot of the stuff looked like I could do myself with a three year old but the people watching was rather funny.

One of the people we ended up talking to knew about Huddle House 3,000 miles away...Farmville people you know what I'm talking about.

Fun fact of the day: Nordstrom originated in Seattle. Hello 5 story heaven.

And last but not least PRETTY KITTY. My aunt and uncle have adopted a cat, I'm not a cat person in the least. I'm all about a dog life but he is the sweetest cat and he loves loves loves to snuggle. 

 

It was definitely a trip that I will not forget. A huge thank you to my Aunt Peg who is as always a fabulous host! Thank you for all the meals and all the shopping! And of course being my personal tour guide. I cannot wait to see you in May!

Happy Birthday to my Momma. 

You would have been the big 5-0 today and I know that you wouldn't have liked that! 

I wish that you were here to celebrate with us today but I can guarantee that you will be on all of our minds. I miss you more than I ever thought you could miss someone.

Seattle: Part 1

Spring Break is officially over and while I'm thrilled to be back in Farmville with my girls I could have used three extra days at home to just relax and catch up on sleep. 

To say that I had the best time on my trip would be such an understatement. Seattle is such an amazing city, somewhere that I would definitely be interested in moving one day but even better it houses some of my favorite people. My Aunt Peggy (My Mom's sister) is one of my favorite people; she is the most generous, loving, and loyal person I know. I always have such a fun time with her and always look forward to our visits. 

My trip started off with a little bit of a kink. I showed up to the airport to find out that my flight was cancelled, there was no pilot available and there was snow at my connection in Chicago. Long story short I returned home and drove back to the airport 8 hours later to connect through Dallas instead. 

FYI: I left my camera at school, I was crushed by made it through with my trust iPhone. So sorry for the crappy pictures, I did the best I could.

To ease my frustration my Dad bought me my first box of the season of Girl Scout cookies. Samoas make everything better. I might have finished the entire box within 3 hours of getting them. By the way, when did they become $4?!

I finally made it on the plane and thankfully had really easy flight, I did a little reading and caught up on some sleep.

 Once I landed I was greeted with this beautiful skyline. Love.

One of the first things that we did was go to Pike's Place Market. I've been there before but I always feel like it is something that you have to go see when you visit. I love the atmosphere, it is downtown and it gives off such good city vibes. 

I think that my favorite most from the market had to have been the "crack rock" bust that I witnessed our way back home. Most exciting thing of my life, seeing bike cops bust a man. Totally felt like a Breaking Bad moment.

I've never really thought of fruits and vegetables as art but they were beautiful and I think that I could have taken pictures of them all day long. I think that it is so cool to have local produce readily available at all times. 

This is the counter that they throw the fish at, it happened while we were there but I couldn't get close enough to snap a picture. 

This would definitely be a the top of my suggestion list and is definitely a place that I will continue to visit. Plus, it is the home of the original Starbucks!!
