See ya Sophomore Year

Today is a bittersweet day, it is my last day of sophomore year and I am headed home for the summer. I am having a hard time grasping that I am HALF way done with college. Grad school here I come because I'm not okay with having to face the real work in two short years. Everyone always says to enjoy every moment of college because it is over before you know it and I think I'm finally starting to realize that, really treasure and take advantage of everything.

This year has been such a turning point for me, I finally found a happy place in life and really made some great experiences and some life long friends. Longwood was definitely the best decision I ever made, it is exactly what I needed and I truly feel at home. Sigma Kappa has given me so much in this one short semester and I cannot wait to see where else it takes me. It has literally made the world of difference in my college experience so far.

I'm so thankful for the people I have met and the experiences that I have be blessed to encounter this year. I'm so excited to head home to soak up some family time, some good sunshine on some trips, and get ahead with some summer classes but I know I'll be antsy to head back to Farmville before August comes.

In honor of today here is a tribute to this year!

Goodbyes Are Not Forever

Today is very bittersweet and has been a long time coming. My favorite is going alum today and is graduating from Longwood in about two weeks.

I fell in love with Lauren the first time I met her and have been so so blessed to have the time with her that I have.

Lauren,
First of all I owe you a thank you. Thank you for being you. You have been a mentor and a role model to me from day one. The passion and love you have for the people around you and the organizations you are involved in is moving. I cannot wait to see where you go in life, which I'm positive will be far. I'm going to miss you more than you know and I don't think that it has hit me that I won't be seeing you everyday, but I know that I will make it. I mean I have had you to prepare me :).

random

This week has already been jam packed and it is only Wednesday. So many FUN things are going on and I'm currently in overdrive. This is the week before exams so professors are cramming all last minute things in. My time is consumed with classes, study sessions, meetings, and Sigma Kappa.

This week started with our last open house of the semester, it was fabulous and we had a great turn out! Ashley did a great job with it and her hard work definitely showed!

Danielle and I

Danielle got lavaliered!!!

Yesterday my Research Methods class had their poster session to present their research proposals. It was actually pretty interesting and we got some great feedback. I proposed The Effect of Noise on Concentration.

Molly and I

This is in case anyone needed some entertainment this evening. Poor Gracie :( but I have to admit it is pretty funny to see her walk around with a diaper on.

And last but not least my badge arrived today!! It is oh so beautiful and I am so so happy to finally have it. I love what I choose and cannot wait to wear it proud!

Well the week is officially half way over but I still have tons of work to do!

T-minus 6 days until summer!

Easter '14

Caleb and I headed home to Richmond for Easter because it just didn't seem right to be the weekend in Farmville. It was a good visit home and much needed time away.

We were blessed with a gorgeous Easter weekend that flew by like it normally does. The weather was amazing this year, low 70s and not a cloud in the sky.

We spent the entire day with family. We began with mass at 9 o'clock and then headed over to the Marchetti side which Margaret graciously hosted. As always it was beautiful affair with an amazing spread of food.

We missed Jake, Kristen, Anthony, and Jo!

All of the "younger" generations with their bunnies and Margaret.

The adorable new puppy that Caleb's cousins adopted. Ollie is one adorable pup and was definitely the center of attention!

After Margaret's we headed over the the Hanky side to well eat some more. As always there were a ton of people along with a ton of food. We did the usual eating, eat hunt, and finally the annual egg toss.

Connor won, as usual. He was pretty proud about his winning streak. This is the 5th time that he has one, he definitely has this technique down. I asked him to be my partner two days before Easter and he told me that I was not skilled enough. Ha!

I hope that everyone had a great holiday spent with family and friends!

Spring Weekend '14

The past weekend was Longwood's annual Spring Weekend. As always it was a blast, we were graced with fabulous weather too the point where it was almost too warm. It was a great weekend filled with bands, booths, food, friends, and some of my fabulous sisters.

Friday started off with Ooozeball which is pretty much volleyball in a pit of mud and has becoming pretty popular. People go crazy for it every year and it is always one of the biggest Spring Weekend events. People make teams and the competition gets crazy, it actually occurs over two days.

Beautiful Longwood

All of our Sigma Kappa players

Sigma Kappa had a booth and each year the newest pledge class is in charge of it. We made coaster with sorority logos, Longwood, and fun scrapbook paper. Everything turned out really well! They were definitely a success along with selling some decorated koozies here and there.

Big shout out to Vanessa and her AWESOME chili recipe, which placed 1st in the cook off wining us $150!

Sadly I don't have too many pictures from our booth but it was super fun and great time with my psisters.

Shoutout to Kelly McGrath, our banner was awesome and we couldn't have done it without you. You are super talented and so sweet for always stepping up and helping with these.  I was slightly obsessed with it.

This week has been super busy with my workload. So so happy to see Friday in arms reach. I'm headed home tomorrow afternoon for a little time at Saxons, a little family time, and of course Easter weekend.
