DC, Senior Year, & Snow

I headed up to DC the weekend before coming back for the semester to visit my roommate, Ashley. Lets just say that getting on 95 at 4:30 on a Friday in the rain wasn't the best choice but I made decent time. It was such a great weekend filled with great food, shopping, fabulous company, and a little bit of golf oddly enough. 

Ashley and her family are so wonderful and welcoming, really some of the best people out there. I'm so fortunate to have them in my life. Living with her has been one of the highlights of college, I'm going to miss her so much!

 We headed to Eastern Market which was somewhat of a farmer's market type set up with produce, jewelry, soap, etc. It was super cute and I can't deny that the donuts were the highlight of my Eastern Market experience. It reminded me a lot of Pike's Place Market in Seattle, one of my favorite highlights of any visit to the West Coast. 

I'm not a city girl, I might be from Houston but I moved a long time ago. We don't even have street lights were I live. I rode the Metro for the first time and it might have been the most exciting part of my week.

After the market we headed back to Reston and went to lunch with Ashley's Mom at BarTaco. It was so so good! I would definitely suggest it and go back again, best margaritas I've ever had.

They give your table a little card with a pencil and you fill out the number of each type of taco you want. They bring everything to your table and you use the adorable silver trays as your plates. 

Making A Murderer. 

I didn't really understand all of the hype about this show until Ash and I watched 4 episodes in one sitting and I couldn't wait to get home to finish the season. If you like shows like Law and Order etc you will most likely binge watch the season and be in complete denial that it is over, just like myself. 

Only if you knew what this girl means to me. I met Molly my Freshman year in gym class, yes gym class. I didn't even have to take a gym class in high school but there I was paying for one in college. We are the complete opposite personality wise but I think it's why our friendship works. We ended up being neighbors, like 307 and 308 neighbors. I didn't arrange this even though Molly thinks otherwise.

I've waited my entire collegiate career for a schedule like this. I have nothing to do Monday, Wednesday, or Fridays. Except go to my internship and my job but I can't complain. Sleeping in is a past time that I thoroughly enjoy and plan on taking part in as the real world is currently on my horizon.

A happy belated LAST first day of classes. Yes it was 13 degrees outside and you might be able to see a little bit of pain in my smile. Cold weather and 8 a.m don't mix well in my opinion but I wouldn't want to struggle with any other company! 

We have been snowed in since Thursday evening. I don't mean a dusting, I mean way too much snow. Longwood closed Friday and today but I have a feeling we will be back to a regular schedule tomorrow.

Recruitment 2016

What a weekend, an amazing one at that. 

Recruitment has come and gone and it is pretty bittersweet. It was a fabulous last recruitment as an active sister and we welcomed home 17 amazing new women last night! 

I never really understood the amount of work that went into making recruitment successful,  let me tell you it is no joke and I have so much respect for anyone that has ever done it. It is anything but easy and is so rewarding at the same time. 

It is always so fun to see our chapter grow and start this next chapter. I cannot wait to get to know all of our amazing new girls and watch them settle in!

Life & 2016

Hello 2016.

The past three weeks have been somewhat of a whirlwind but so good.

I ended up going back to Houston with my Dad and we celebrated Christmas together on the 25th at home for the first time since I moved to Richmond, it was exactly what we needed. 

I headed home for Richmond last week and took a few days to get back into the swing of things. It was nice to have some down time just spent at home. I've been decluttering, organizing, and in full on clean mode since the New Year. It is amazing how much junk you accumulate throughout the year and it always feels so good to drop off a car load of stuff at Goodwill. 

I've spent my free time finishing up a class for winter session, writing thank you notes, picking up shifts at the Y, and catching up on some much needed Netflix binges. I head back to school for Recruitment on Tuesday and get back to classes on the 19th. I find it hard to believe slash am in denial that this is my last winter break so I'm soaking up every second.

I'm blessed to have a department full of amazing faculty who I've grown to adore over these past 4 years. They might be as dysfunctional as I am which makes it such a perfect fit.
